Death Train to Kanchanaburi

We took a rickety old train about 50 miles from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. The line was built by forced prisoner labor by the Japanese during WWII. Kind of haunting. Anyway it had open wooden windows and benches and provided a intimate encounter with the Thai countryside. Monks boarded the train along with assorted vendors selling everything from sticky rice with mango to grilled duck on a stick, beak and all.
